Here's some advice to help you prepare for your portrait or engagement session.
1. TIME IT FOR THE RIGHT LIGHT.
2 hours before sunset is the absolute best time to shoot. Also known as golden hour. You get those beautifully soft and warm tones. Always try to avoid midday; this when the sun is its harshest.
Overcast days are ideal too. So if you're hoping for sunshine but the sky is full of clouds, fear not, this is an ideal situation too. Moody, neutral, and means we can shoot at anytime of the day.

Your special place. As cheesy as it sounds, think ahead. Future you may be glad you chose that place, because looking back it really was your special place and will open the flood gates of nostalgia to all those wonderful memories.
Nature. Be it mountains, the beach, a forest... nature is beautiful and always makes an incredible backdrop.
Home. Where you're most comfortable. Surrounded by your things. Its intimate and personal. Breakfast, coffee, cuddling on the couch - its a good choice for a portrait session and you can style it anyway you please.

3. DRESS CODE.
Dress well, I'm taking your photo! Get your hair and makeup done. Buy a new outfit and shoes. Wear your favourite earrings and your best shirt. Dress to express yourself.
Neutrals are a great choice if you're a little unsure. If you love colour, wear something bold and avoid patterns. Another thing to consider is your location colours and what your partner is wearing.
Be comfortable and confident. Most important!

If you're planning to propose, let me know and we can make a super sneaky plan together.
I've photographed proposals for locals, and people who have travelled to Australia from New York and Scotland. Its SO much fun!
See a little snippet of Maria & Chris' proposal below and in my Journal. They travelled from New York to Australia for the Australian Open, but Chris had other plans!
'OMG we are melting over here gushing over the pictures!! I can't begin to tell you how perfect you beyond captured my vision for the proposal and so vividly all the emotions that followed. These are lifetime memories and I really really appreciate your work to make them last forever!' - Chris.
